The Martin County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday released a 35-second clip showing the arrest of the man accused of preparing to assassinate former president Donald Trump.
In the video, a deputy is heard shouting instructions at suspect Ryan Wesley Routh, who is out of frame for 22 seconds. “Driver, take two steps to your right! Driver, walk straight back! Keep walking.”
Law enforcement officials often direct suspects to walk backward toward them as a safety measure.
Routh, who appears to be unarmed, enters the video holding the back of his reddish T-shirt over his head before he is surrounded by deputies and taken into custody.
